Leslie Howard (1893-1943) was a great stage and film actor, director and producer. He also wrote some plays and many articles and short stories for magazines and newspapers.

Though new generations know him mainly as Ashley Wilkes, the rĂ´le he played in Gone with the Wind, Leslie Howard was the leading actor, director and producer of many other great films, and was a prominent figure of the English and American stage during the 1920s and 1930s.
Leslie Howard was an idealist who believed in cultural and humanitarian values, and eventually committed himself to a propaganda work against Nazis and their authoritarian and racist regime. Unfortunately, his life and artistic career was too short: he was only 50 when the aircraft he was on board was shot down by the German Luftwaffe over the Bay of Biscay, the 1st of June 1943.

There are still many Leslie Howard fans all over the world, but this site is not intended for them only. The purpose of these pages is keeping his memory alive, and introducing his life and personality, so complex and interesting, to the new generations.

Two blogs, Inafferrabile Leslie Howard and Leslie Howard Forever, and LeslieHowardForever YouTube Channel have joined the Leslie Howard Net. We hope other sites and blogs devoted to Leslie Howard will join us in the future.
